The Minister for older people and Mental Health, Jim Daly TD visits Our exercise, COPD & Me class to experience the programmes for himself
A number of weeks ago Minister Daly met with our National Manager, Thomas McCabe and our Board Chairman, Roger Jupp to discuss the importance of active ageing and the availability of programmes such as ours to help keep older people active.
On the back of the meeting, Minister Daly and a representative from the Department of Health visited our Whitehall, Exercise, COPD & Me group today to see our classes in full swing. Exercise, COPD & Me is one of our most successful programmes, helping people living with COPD to tackle physical issues they face each day, such as breathlessness. After talking with representatives from Siel Bleu Ireland and COPD Support Ireland the Minister chatted with participants about the class and the impact it’s had on their lives.
Minster Daly was a good sport when he was coaxed into participating in a segment of the class while they were working on their leg strength.
Thanks to the Minister and his colleague for taking the time to meet with us today.
